## Would you choose the better tutor or the better showcase?

If two stand-up courses covered roughly the same level, what would actually decide it for you: who teaches it, how much stage time you get during the course, class size, or the final showcase? I keep thinking the showcase sounds like the exciting bit on the sales page, but several weeks of useful feedback probably matters more than one good room at the end. Curious what people would prioritise before paying rather than what looks nicest in the course description.

## For an online stand-up course, what would make it feel properly practical?

I can see the obvious advantage of doing a course from home, especially if work makes getting across London every week a pain. But stand-up is such a physical thing that I’d want more than a Zoom lecture about joke structure. If you were comparing online courses, what would you look for — everyone performing material each session, live feedback, small groups, a final showcase, recordings to review? I’m less interested in whether online can work in theory and more in what the course would actually need to include for you to choose it.

## Would you choose a course with a showcase over one with more teaching time?

I’m comparing course formats rather than specific providers and keep getting stuck on the showcase. A final gig sounds useful because there’s an actual deadline, but if the alternative used that time for another proper teaching/feedback session I’m not sure which I’d value more. If you were choosing as a newer comic, would a showcase materially affect your decision, or would you mostly compare tutor feedback, class size and how much time you actually get to work on material?

## What would make you choose one beginner comedy course over another?

There seem to be loads of beginner courses that promise roughly the same things on paper: writing, performance, confidence, then maybe a showcase. If you were choosing one now, what would actually separate them for you? Tutor, class size, amount of stage time, location, price, the final show, or something else? I’m trying to work out what’s genuinely useful to compare rather than just reading every course page until they blur together.
