Does practising your set faster actually help when you blank?

I’ve been wondering whether deliberately running a set slightly faster in rehearsal is useful, not because I want to perform it that way, but because it forces me to know the next beat without relying on the usual pauses. Or am I just training myself to rush? I want something that tests whether I actually know the structure without wrecking the pace I’m trying to build on stage.

I’d separate knowing the order from practising the pace. A fast run can be useful as a memory check, but I wouldn’t make it your main rehearsal because you can accidentally make rushing feel normal. I sometimes reduce the set to just the first line or idea of each beat and see if I can reconstruct the route from that.
