Reviews
Real feedback from comedians who have performed at this venue, found across the web.
Feedback from performers regarding Sofar Sounds (which manages the London comedy applications) is polarized. On the positive side, performers report that the 'listening room' format creates an environment where audiences are exceptionally respectful, attentive, and genuinely engaged with the acts [7]. Staff are described as professional and helpful [7]. However, the brand faces significant criticism regarding its professional ethics, specifically a 'long history of not compensating artists' [18]. Some critics characterize the experience as a 'data-driven simulacrum' of intimacy designed primarily for social media marketing rather than authentic artist support [10]. For comedy specifically, the London shows typically feature three acts in a secret-lineup format with no designated headliner [14].

I’ve played at a few. One was at their headquarters in Chinatown and the other was at a boutique hotel. Staff was great and audiences were respectful and really into all of the performers.

They also have a long history of not compensating artists, it was really fun,

Sofar Sounds is a data-driven simulacrum: a performance of what it might be like to be at a house show, intimate in a way meant only for Instagram.
